Above-Fireplace Mounting in Massachusetts

Mounting a TV above the fireplace is one of the most requested installs we do — and one of the easiest to get wrong. The height that looks right from across the room often puts the screen too high for comfortable viewing, and heat rising from the firebox is a real factor for the TV's electronics and the mount's hardware over time.

• Heat clearance check: when the firebox runs hot, we use a mount with a slight offset or recommend a heat-resistant backer board.
• Viewing-angle tilt: mounts above eye level get a downward tilt bracket so you're not craning your neck.
• Cable routing through the chimney chase where possible, so nothing runs down the exposed brick or mantel.
• Gas and wood-burning fireplaces are treated differently — gas units generally run cooler at the surround, while wood-burning fireplaces need a longer cool-down check before we assess clearance.
